Moved Down In Search - Working to Get Back

Paramount Contracting was doing fabulous in my Google search results, but something happened and it got knocked down to the third page, from the first.  What happened?  After some research, I can only determine that some additional SEO Wordpress plugins may have caused it.  So, I reverse engineered and removed them, hoping that would help.  Well, I used Pear Analytics to run a quick check and they recommended a 301 redirect from http://www.paramountcontracting.net to http://paramountcontracting.net.  I understand the basics of redirects and how to accomplish them, but I still don't quite get the idea that they are two different sites.  It's odd to me that a robot can not figure out they are the same site.

So, I implemented my 301 Redirects and ensured I referenced the correct URL with Analytics and Backlink requests.  I'm hoping this changes things.  I also requested Indexing of the main site.  We'll see if search rankings improve.
